When someone is injured in a car crash, it can be very challenging for him or her to focus on recovery when there are medical expenses and other damages to worry about. The situation can be even worse if the injured person was involved in a hit-and-run and the other driver is still at large. After a recent car accident in Montana that caused an injury, the Billings Police Department is searching for the driver of a Dodge truck that left the scene.

According to the police report, the truck was driving southbound just before the crash occurred. At the Interstate 90 overpass, the driver allegedly failed to yield to an oncoming car as he or she was making a left-hand turn. As a result, the truck crashed into a Mercedes-Benz, but continued on into the eastbound lanes of I-90.

Four children and two adults were in the Mercedes. One passenger, a 70-year-old woman, had to be taken to the hospital. The extent and seriousness of her injuries was not reported. Police are now asking anyone who may know anything about the Dodge truck or the driver to contact them.

If the driver of the Dodge is ever located, he or she is likely subject to criminal charges for leaving the scene of a car accident that caused injury. Not only that, but the driver may also face the injured victim in civil court. In Montana, anyone injured as a result of someone else’s negligence may be able to pursue a personal injury claim. Any compensation awarded can help the injured party with medical expenses and other financial hardships resulting from the crash, allowing him or her to focus on healing.
